For this week??????s show I want to look at the religious, magickal and mystical natures of the God as He relates to the Wheel of the Year. Through these roles we know the God in four principal guises: The Oak King and the Holly King, and also the Green Man and the Harvest Lord. Many Wiccans and Pagans work these figures into their rituals, creating a mythos of how the God and Goddess relate to each other. But these four figures are tied together; the Holly King, the Oak King, the Green Man and the Harvest Lord are all expressions of the Slain God figure. The Slain God is cut down and his seeds planted into the earth so that life may continue and be ever more abundant. This mystical theme of transformation associated with agriculture is found in many European folk traditions from earliest times and continue into modern times Hope you enjoy the show!
